Hay Baling & Silage Services in Hamilton

We mow and bale grass into round or square bales of hay and silage, so you can choose the bale that suits the way you feed out and the space you have to store it.

Hay and silage are different jobs. Hay is left in the paddock until it has dried right out, then baled. Silage is baled much wetter and sealed so that it ferments, which keeps more of the feed value of fresh grass. Either way, the result depends on the grass going in: as DairyNZ's guide to grass silage puts it, it is impossible to produce high quality silage from low quality pasture. DairyNZ gives 25 to 30 percent dry matter as the optimum for silage, and advises using a high density baler for baled silage.

If you are also growing a crop to cut, our cultivation and planting service can get it in the ground first.

Hamilton's Hay Baling & Silage Experts

Langman Contracting Ltd strives for maximum customer satisfaction with each and every job. To achieve this, our agricultural contractors ensure they are friendly as well as clear and upfront about the work required. The workmanship of all our agricultural contractors is always of the highest standard.

When you call, it helps to know roughly how many hectares you want cut, whether you want hay or silage, and whether you would like round or square bales. Bigger silage jobs on maize or grass are done with our forage harvester instead.
